The Return Animatic Designs

The Return: The Ship of Kai is a collaborative project done by 9 people for an illustration diploma - this project consists of concept art and an animatic. I was the head writer and director of the project, so I was in charge of most of the writing and art direction.

Keyscene #1 is a scene where the male protagonist (Kai) goes to visit the female protagonist (Serora) at her house late at night. He has to visit her discreetly because he is part of a clan that is discriminated against due to being unable to use magic.

Keyscene #2 is a flashback scene to Kai and Serora's childhood. They frequently play together and lay under the big tree that stands in a field outside of Kai's hometown.

Keyscene #3 is a scene from a flashback. This is a scene where Kai is chasing after Serora as she is running away from him in a playful manner. In a way, it shows the distance between them that would soon grow as the story reaches its climax.

Keyscene #4 is a scene from the rising climax of a battle sequence. It features a heavily augmented Kai who has changed drastically from his human form. He holds the necklace that his father passed down to him as he resolves to defeat his final opponent.
